Halekote
branch – 2:
Eeshwara Irwathraya, the
third son of Anantha Irwathraya – 1 lived at Halekote as a neibhour to his
elder brother Subraya Irwathraya. As Subraya Irwathraya died at an early
age, his son Narasimha Irwathraya -2 (Appayyu chikkappa) was heading the
neihbouring Irwathraya household. As already said in the previous chapter,
Eeshwara Irwathraya was a short tempered man, and had frequent squirmishes with
Appayyu Chikkappa. However, with the intervention of my father Anantha
Irwathraya-2, every time the problems were amicably solved. Eeshwara Irwathraya
was a short & lien figure with dark complexion.
At his advanced age,
Eeshwara Ajja was having multifarious health problems including hearing problem
and wheezing. There was an interesting story. Once, he was admitted to a
Chikmagalur hospital for treatment, and it is told that, one fine morning,
without informing the hospital authorities, he escaped from the hospital and
returned to his house at Halekote. When enquired, he told that, previous
midnight, the Prethas (souls/after death entities - of the deceased
people) in the Hospital were stretching their hands through the windows
disturbing him. Scared by this, he waited till the morning sunrise, and escaped
from the hospital.
